Jason 'Skett13' Asplin is a photographer based out of Mandurah in Western Australia with a keen eye for seascapes, landscapes and wildlife photography.
In March 2013, I made the decision to pack all my possessions into a box and headed west - across the Nullarbor, to Western Australia. I was in search of a more habitable and stable climate. I needed a bit of respite from the crippling pain of Fibromyalgia. When I arrived I fell for the breathtaking scenery and coastline, but I was still left with the question: "What am I going to do with myself?"
Months passed, then I decided to purchase a DSLR camera. I learned how to take a half decent photograph to fill my time. With the aid of my family, I saved up enough to get a Nikon D3200 twin lens kit. Armed with a basic knowledge of composition and framing, I began my photographic journey capturing the local beach in Secret Harbour. Some of my subjects were the local surfers riding waves as well as the local bird species endemic to my backyard. I really enjoyed my new found hobby, and deciding to take my photography forward, I upgraded my camera to a Nikon D610. I furthered my studies by undertaking an online photography course at www.iphotographycourse.com and by the end of 2014, I had established myself as a top 9 photographer out of 57,000 fellow students internationally.
